Street/Art

Outside

It is SO incredibly hot here in Vienna and my brain seems to be in slumber mode (or maybe it has melted away for good). But nevertheless i went outside yesterday to take pictures for a new project i am working on.

I am working again with the Photograper Ingo Karnicnik and we are again bringing TheVolk to the Streets of Vienna. This time i am customizing old plush toys that i collected at flea markets all over town for the last month. I felt so attracted and sorry for those worn out little creatures being piled up in the last corners of flea markets and second hand stores that i bought them without a plan or a project in mind. But once you start doing there is always something coming up, right? So now we are working on the Photo Series with the topic home/childhood/belonging (working title) and we will release the Photos and the customized Toys early October.

I won’t post the original pictures the photographer took, this are just little teasers shot with my ooooooold IPhone (is it possible that it’s an IPhone I ? Feels like it for sure)

Home

Like always when you are shooting in public spaces there might be unexpected incidents and it’s a cruel world out there.

Outside

I am passionate about bringing my creatures outside and showing them the world. I love the reactions of people who are suddenly face to face with something so different from their notion of „normal”. For me it feels like the magical world is creeping into our reality and i always wanted to live in a world where magic happens. And it does! In so many places. My work in public spaces is also an invitation to look closer, to explore and to feed your inner child with possible adventures waiting at every corner.

Let’s quote Marc Twain here who already found the perfect words.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

So, Go outside and explore!!! (Once the sun set and it isn’t so hot anymore. Until then, stay the fuck inside and darken every window!!)

Let’s complete this post with some pictures that never made it into my Portfolio. I don’t know the reason why, just discovered them and thought i had to share it with the world! (Or with my parents who seem to be my most devoted Blog Readers)
